A Little About Me

My name is Yasmin Vejs Simsek. I am a feminist consultant/educator, creative producer, and writer. I do a few different things and I do them well, so on this site you can explore in more details the various work that I offer and how we can work together.

With a BA in Theatre and Creative Writing and an MA in Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies, I have built an extensive knowledge in the two fields I'm most passionate about; the creative industries and intersectional social activism for self-identified women.

As a recent settler based in Vancouver, BC, it's vital to me to work from an anti-colonial mindset in all the work that I do. I strive to create inclusive, accessible spaces and I am always keen to learn more.

I recognize that I live and work on the stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Working from a world-wide anti-colonial standpoint is essential to my work in order to build bridges and attempt to heal some of the wounds that have been caused by colonizing settlers,. Furthermore, I strive to highlight Indigenous voices in all the work I do, as well as honour the land that they have kept safe since time immemorial.
